At our practice, we provide exceptional specialty care for your children. We strive to provide a preventative
approach to your child's dental healthcare, creating a fun, warm and relaxed atmosphere for your family. Our office
is not a high volume practice where too many patients are seen at once without much personal time with the doctor.
You will be impressed with our personal, individualized approach to treating children.
The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, as well as the American Academy of Pediatrics (the Pediatrician's
Academy) recommend the first visit to the office be at one year of age. We usually will set this visit up as
a brief consult wear the child is shown the office in a playful manner and the child will sit on the parent's lap
and a mirror examination is done of the teeth and gums. The reason for this exam is both as a get
acquainted with the office and sitting in the dental chair for the child and a review of oral hygiene for the
parents and to be sure there is no early decay.
At each pediatrice visit, both the child and parent are shown age appropriate ways to clean the teeth.
Appropriate toothbrushes and toothpastes are discussed and given. Every child receives a dentally related toy
-- some get coloring books and other get toothbrush covers that resemble aligators or dinasaurs.
Older child have orthodontic evaluation of the position and eruption pattern of the teeth and appropriate
referral for interceptive orthodontic treatment to guide the teeth or identify treatment options to help with jaw
growth into proper alignment.
If the patient has other special needs, referral to a Pediatric Dentist may be appropriate and will be made.
